On Feb. 6, 2007, U.S. Navy Capt. and NASA Astronaut Lisa Nowak, 43, was charged with trying to kidnap a woman she regarded as her romantic rival for the affection of a space shuttle pilot. Authorities say Nowak, a married mother of three, drove 900 miles from Houston to Orlando to confront Colleen Shipman at an airport parking lot about Navy Cmdr. William Oefelein.

Prosecutors have appealed the ruling of Circuit Judge Marc L. Lubet earlier this month that tossed out most of the state's evidence against former astronaut Lisa Nowak. Judge Lubet ruled that Nowak had been coerced into making a statement and she was not properly advised of her Miranda rights.
